Comp Claim Activity Monitoring
in Jackson.
Most claims are legitimate. The ones that are not are expensive, and they are only identifiable by documenting what a claimant can actually do. Watchtower produces that record to claim-file standard.
The question is capability, and it is answered by observation.
West Tennessee's employment base — manufacturing and distribution around Jackson, agriculture across Madison and the surrounding counties, transport along the I-40 corridor — generates physically demanding work and, inevitably, genuine injuries. Watchtower begins from that assumption, because starting anywhere else produces bad investigations.
What an adjuster, a self-insured employer or defense counsel actually needs is a factual record of observed activity measured against the restrictions the claimant has reported. Not an opinion about whether someone is injured. Not a conclusion about malingering. Observed activity, with times and images, set beside the stated limitation.
That distinction is what makes the documentation useful. A report claiming a conclusion invites attack; a report showing a claimant repeatedly lifting and carrying on a day they reported being unable to lift speaks without needing to argue.
When claim surveillance is commissioned
Typically where reported restrictions and observable reality appear to diverge.
Reported restrictions are inconsistent with activity reported by others
The claimed injury does not align with the mechanism described
Treatment compliance is irregular while the claim continues
Social media or public activity conflicts with the stated limitation
The claim extends well beyond the expected recovery window
A second job or physical side activity is suspected
How claim monitoring runs
File Review
We review the reported restrictions and claim chronology so observation is measured against a defined standard rather than a hunch.
Activity Windows
Coverage is planned for the periods most likely to show ordinary daily activity, rather than spread indiscriminately.
Documentation
Time-stamped video and photographic documentation of observed activity from lawful public vantage points.
Claim-Ready Report
A chronological report setting observed activity beside reported restrictions, formatted for the claim file and for counsel.
Why the reporting standard matters here
Observation, not conclusion
We document what was observed and let it speak. Reports that editorialize are easier for opposing counsel to dismantle.
Defensible methods
Public vantage points only. No trespass, no pretext, no recording of private conversations — nothing that gets footage excluded.
Built for the file
Formatted so an adjuster, an employer or defense counsel can drop it straight into the claim file.
Proportionate to exposure
We scope the days to the value of the claim, and will tell you when surveillance is unlikely to be worth the spend.
Workers' comp surveillance, answered.
Observing and recording a person in public where there is no reasonable expectation of privacy is lawful, and it is standard practice in claim defense. What is not lawful is trespassing onto private property, recording through windows into a residence, recording private conversations you are not party to, or any form of pretext to gain access. We do none of those things.
Two to three days is common, often scheduled around days likely to show ordinary activity such as a weekend or a known appointment. Extended open-ended surveillance rarely improves the result proportionally to what it costs, and we will say so.
Then the documentation shows that, and that is a legitimate and valuable outcome — it closes the question and allows the claim to proceed without further dispute. A meaningful share of these engagements confirm the claim rather than undermine it, and our reporting reflects what was observed either way.
Surveillance documentation is regularly used in workers' compensation proceedings, and we prepare it accordingly, with continuous time coding and a clear chain of custody. Whether any specific item is admitted is for the tribunal and your counsel, which is why the methods used to obtain it matter so much.
